Good People in a Bad Time: Stories of Love and Wonder from Sarajevo, Europe and the world

Emina Čabaravdić-Kamber is an author and painter born in Kakanj (former Yugoslavia, present-day Bosnia and Herzegovina).
At the age of twenty Čabaravdić-Kamber was the only one of 11 siblings to leave her homeland. Since then she has lived in Hamburg. She is a member of the Association of German Authors (VS) in Hamburg, of the German P.E.N., of P.E.N. Writers in Exile, of the Hamburg Authors Guild and the Hamburg International Journalists Guild. In 1988 Čabaravdić-Kamber founded “La Bohemina”, an international literature club. Since 1992 she has taught courses in exile literature and art at adult education institutes in Hamburg, Lübeck, Münster and in Bosnia.
Multi-lingual publications in books, anthologies and the CD “Emina” with SEVDAH – Bosnian love songs and lyrics. In 1989 Čabaravdić-Kamber was awarded the international lyric prize “Alberto Karpino” in Naples, Italy. Further awards followed.
Čabaravdić-Kamber leads EU youth projects in literature, arts and theatre for the Edmund-Siemers-Stiftung. Her work deals with international understanding, integration and languages.
In 1996 she was awarded the Service Medal of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for her work in peace and conflict resolution in her homeland of Bosnia. At the 2008 Sarajevo Book Fair she was given a lifetime achievement award.
